Bulldog is an intervened porcelain sculpture by Miguel Guía, a work in which the artist takes a pre-existing figure and transforms it, giving it a new artistic identity.
The bulldog’s powerful anatomy, firm stance and unmistakable character acquire an entirely new presence through the artist’s intervention. The intense purple finish envelops the entire figure, unifying its forms while emphasising its volumes, folds and expression. The original object remains recognisable, yet its meaning and perception are transformed: it moves beyond the merely decorative to become a contemporary sculpture with a distinctive personality of its own.
With this work, Miguel Guía establishes a dialogue with the tradition of the found object and the ready-made, while going a step further through his direct intervention on the piece.
